Hello darlings, I’m popping in today with a quick post about my favorite places to eat out in Bangkok. Bangkok as a city is many things, crowded and overrun with reckless kamikaze-esque motorbike riders for one. As a city known for its street food, there is no shortage of options as far as eating is concerned.
However… I don’t eat meat and I’m not really into potential food poisoning. Perhaps I’m a wimp, perhaps I’m cautious. Really, I’ll leave that up to you. Anyhow, for me, street food was out. What is the next option? Noodles. Noodles are the next option, my friend.
While my darling travel companion would oft eat noodles three meals a day, I discovered that I really don’t like them. Though I wasn’t a huge fan of Thai food before the trip (absolutely nothing against the culture, purely preference), I came to develop a severe distaste for the flavors. In fact, I now resent anyone who drags me to a Thai restaurant. Note to friends and family: please don’t.
At first I felt terrible about this. While I think that it is important to at least try the authentic cuisine, I don’t believe in forcing yourself to do things you dislike. Why would you turn a pleasant experience such as eating into a guilt-ridden struggle (that, my reader, is a whole other topic)?
So, while Bangkok is a city of smog, motorbikes, and street food, it is also a city of boutique eateries. No joke.
Let me introduce you to my top three places to eat in Bangkok if noodles aren’t really your cup of matcha latte.
Prep your Instagram, because the aesthetics of this café are absolutely divine.
White spiral staircases.
Airy curtains.
Plants everywhere.
Marble topped tables.
Lion topped mochas.
High backed chairs fit for a queen.
Even their bathroom was luxurious.
Prepare yourself. Bangkok is home to a themed café that revolves around… unicorns. No shit. You know those memes with unicorns vomiting rainbows? Yeah… that happened to the inside of this restaurant. Warning in advance: the food here is all decadent. Additional warning: everything is pink. Even the tufted vinyl chairs. The most amazing part? You can rent unicorn onesies in which to eat your unicorn fudge waffles. This simultaneously reminded me of the top mattress of my childhood bunk bed (an abundance of stuffed animals, anyone?) and my fabulous inspiration, Gala Darling. We came. We saw. We left with a tummy ache (worth it!). Sidenote: Yes, that is in fact fudge drizzled ice cream atop our chocolate waffles, thank you very much.
Just look at that.
2. Brekkie
Let’s get something straight. I don’t like pasta. Mac n’ cheese? Eh. Pizza doesn’t interest me. Sugar, however, sugar is my crack. Knowing what I do about the evils of white, refined sugar, I try to stick to fruit sugar, fructose, of which I eat copious amounts. It’s probably a problem.
Anyhow, if you are anything like me and you are in Thailand, dying for a smoothie bowl, please visit Brekkie. They have green juices in cute little glass bottles, chocolate smoothie bowls that will make you swoon, high glass ceilings to let in all the dreamy filtered light, geometric wooden mirror art on the walls, and, wait for it… indoor swings. I’m sold.

4. Bonus Restaurant: Nadimos Lebanese Cuisine
Okay, okay, this list is supposed to be about places to get the best smoothies and almond milk lattes in the city. The word “Fruit” is in the title. Please don’t call me out for stretching this one, but, wine is technically made from grapes, which is technically a fruit. So… One point to me. Regardless, this list of my favorite Bangkok eateries could not be complete without shouting out this beautiful restaurant with the second-best hummus of my life and killer patio seating. Sitting here with my bestie, sipping adult grape juice and talking about life measures as one of the most memorable moments of my Bangkok experience.
Darling, I hope your time in Thailand is lovely, made all the lovelier by the food of your dreams.
Love as always,
Lola
